St. Barbara Prayer for Healing

Dear St. Barbara, I pray for your intercession on my healing. I need healing from you my God. Sometime back I was diagnosed with an illness that needs operation. Pray to God for me in order to grant me protection and healing. Pray for me so that during and after the operation I will have no complications and that I will recover quickly and completely. Grant that the surgery would be successful.

I surrender my life and health into your able hands. Be with me dear Lord throughout the whole procedure. I call upon your healing power for you are the divine healer. Bring healing to the part of my body that is sick. Give me peace of mind and heart and free me from worry and fear and give me courage, hope and faith. Lord Jesus restore my health to what it was before this sickness.

St. Barbara you who came out victorious in all adversity, you who claimed with your love and did not fall into evil temptation, help me to win this battle. I thank you in advance for your help and intercession.

Amen.

Prayer for the Surgeons and their Equipment

God the creator of all universe, I put the surgeons into your hands. From their preparation to get into the operating room and perform the surgery, to the time the surgery is completed, be with them. Lord, you blessed them with skills and talents to treat. Lord Jesus be their motivational force, guide them because when you are in charge everything goes smoothly.

Many times I am worried about this illness, and this delicate procedure. One mishap and everything goes wrong. Some of the things I have heard with surgeries Lord are not encouraging. Most of the time I am worried that something might go wrong during the whole procedure. Some of my worries are that an intern who is not experienced might be the one to take on the job and treat it as an experiment, or that the surgeon might accidentally touch a part that is not supposed to be touched. God I plead with you to give me peace and to prevent such occurrences.

Lord direct the surgeon’s hand during the entire course of the surgery. Protect all the equipment that will be used. Sterilize the tools in a special way so no damage will be done. God give the doctors not only calm hearts but also sharp minds to perform the surgery without causing harm. Allow them to locate the site of disease and remove it. Allow them to act as extensions of your healing hands.

Amen.

Prayer for the Sick

Lord I entrust the sick into your hands. No one wishes to be sick or to go through the knife. Circumstances lead us to the hospital. I pray for those who need to go for surgeries to correct the wrong in their bodies. Father you are the unfailing harbor of those who suffer. Lord I commit them into your able hands from the time they fall unconscious under the anesthesia, as they are placed on top of the operating table, as parts of their bodies are put under the knife, throughout the lifesaving procedure and even after the whole process and are taken to the recovery room.

In your word Lord, I ask you to be gracious and merciful to them and heal them because they have sinned against you. Psalms 41:4

Jesus you carried our sins in your body to the cross, so that free from sin, we might live for righteousness. It is by your wounds that we have been healed. 1st Peter 2:24

Almighty God, King of kings and Lord of lords, I beseech you to remove any fear or doubt from their minds and hearts. “What if it doesn’t go well? What if I don’t come out of the theatre?” I reject such thoughts In Jesus Name. Everything will be okay in your Name. Let them find comfort in your holy word. Just like in the book of Psalms 23:3-4, Lord you give us strength anew and guide us in the right paths as you promised. That even if we go through the deepest darkness, we will not be afraid, for you are with us Lord and that your shepherd’s rod and staff will protect us.

Lord I pray that they find favour before all people they meet including the surgeons and nurses but above all you, so that as they see them they’ll see an object of mercy and favour. Let their miraculous experience act as a sign of hope to others who are in doubt, so that they too can believe and have faith that Lord you are the healer.

Your one and only son took upon himself the weaknesses and suffering of all mankind by dying on the cross. Look upon all those who are ill. In the midst of all this, may they find peace and trust upon the Lord who heals soul, mind and body. May they believe in the promise to those who suffer and be fully restored to health. In the Mighty Name of Jesus I pray.

Amen.

Thanksgiving Prayer

I thank you Lord for the gift of life. I thank you for good health and all the blessings you have bestowed upon me. Lord I give you thanks and praise because up to now I have had good health and strength in my body. Thank you Lord Jesus for your protection, for your love and mercy.

I ask you Lord to forgive me for my sins. For my thoughts, words, what I have done and what I have failed to do. I ask for forgiveness and pray that you alone who is beyond understanding to help me live according to your will.

Lord after the surgery is complete I will come to you with songs of praise for the restored health. I will enter your gates with thanksgiving in my heart, I will enter your courts with praise. I will say this is the day that the Lord has made and I will rejoice for you have made me glad. I will thank you for yet another chance at life that I may continue to serve and give glory to your holy name. Lord I will thank you for yet another chance at life and more time to spend with my loved ones.

St. Barbara, I pray to you for your intercession together with the Virgin Mary to Jesus Christ our Lord and saviour.

Amen.
