Prayers For A Very Sick Child

While there are believers who have a special gift of healing (1 Corinthians 12:9), any believer can pray for the sick. James 5:15 says ‘And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick’. 

If you have a very sick child or you know of one, your prayers for healing are powerful. All you need to do is believe and make sure your heart is right with God. Here are four powerful prayers you can pray.

Prayer for a Miracle of Healing of a Very Sick Child

The Lord calls all of us to present our needs to him in prayer. Yes, there is great power in the laying of the hands by the priest or pastor. But your prayers are also powerful. If you are feeling anxious and worried, Philippians 4:6-7 is a great verse to go along with this prayer. 

Dear Father and Great Healer, I lift up this precious child into your arms. You are the God of miracles, and I pray for a miraculous healing in their life. You are the one who spoke the universe into existence, healed the lepers, restored the cripples and raised the dead. I believe that nothing is impossible for you.

Lord, I pray for your healing touch upon this child. May your power flow through their body, bringing restoration, strength, and complete wholeness. I ask that you remove every trace of sickness, disease, and pain from their body. 

Father, I pray for the doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals who are taking care of this child. Grant them wisdom and skill as they treat the child. Guide their hands and minds with your Holy Spirit. 

I thank you for the great plans you have for this child and the long life you have laid out for them. May they grow up to serve you and follow in your ways. Use this healing miracle to show them the awesome power of your glory. 

I surrender this child to you, praying that you restore them to full health. In the healing and mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen. 

Prayer for Strength and Comfort for A Sick Child

You being there for the sick child is doing wonders for them. But your own strength may not be enough. Ask God to comfort that child and see them through the illness. 

Dear Lord, I come to you with a heart heavy with worry and concern for this child. One of your little children is sick and suffering. Father, I know you can feel their pain and suffering, you can see the weariness in their body. 

I pray that you embrace the child with your strength and love. May they feel the comfort of your presence. Replace any anxiety they are feeling with peace, despair with hope and sadness with joy. 

I am trying my best to be there for the child and support them through this illness. But my strength is not enough. So I am going to lean on your strength and love. Use me to comfort and encourage this child; let your light shine in me and become a beacon of hope. 

I ask for your healing over this child. Ease their pain and banish the disease from their body. May the child come out of this knowing that you are a God of miracles. May this make their budding faith stronger and draw them closer to you. 

I pray this, believing and trusting in your Power. Amen.  

Prayer for the Parents and Family of A Sick Child

There’s nothing more heart wrenching for a parent than seeing your child suffer. The parents and family of a sick child also need prayers of support and comfort. If you are a parent to a sick child, say this prayer for yourself. 

Heavenly Father, I lift up the parents and family of this precious child who is facing serious illness. Lord, you are the ultimate source of comfort and strength, and I ask that you would surround them with Your love and grace during this challenging time.

Fill their hearts with your loving presence, assuring them of your constant care and faithfulness. Give them strength to endure, hope to hold on to, and unwavering faith in your ability to perform miracles.

Help them to find strength in you and in one another, drawing closer together as a family. Provide them with moments of respite and renewal, allowing them to recharge physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Ease their fears, anxieties, and worries, replacing them with peace that can only come from You. Be their refuge and stronghold, their constant source of hope and assurance. Help them to lean on you in times of weakness and to trust in Your unfailing love.

I also pray for the extended family. Comfort them as well and give them the strength they need to support the sick child and their parents.

Lord, in the midst of their struggles, may this family experience glimpses of Your goodness and faithfulness. Fill their hearts with hope and remind them that You are always with them, guiding and sustaining them through every step of the journey.

In the precious name of Jesus, I pray. Amen. 

Prayer for a Terminally Ill Child 

This is probably the hardest prayer, but it’s important that we trust God’s will and plans. While you should still pray for healing, even if the situation seems hopeless, also surrender the child to God’s will. 

Merciful Father, I come before you with a broken heart. This little child is slipping away from us. I lift them up into your arms, praying that you ease their pain and suffering. Grant them relief and comfort and let your peace that passes all understanding flow over them.  

Dear Lord, the situation looks bleak and hopeless. But I know you are a God of great miracles. If it is your will, oh Lord, please heal this child. Restore their health and let them grow up to serve you. 

But if it is your plan to call them up to your side, I am grateful for the life we’ve spent together with this child. They have been a blessing to everyone around them, filling our lives with joy, laughter and sweet memories. 

We pray that you wrap your comforting arms around the family of the little one, and especially the parents. Strengthen them in these moments of grief and remind them that death is not the end. 

Lord, I ask for moments of joy and peace amidst the pain and sorrow. May this child and their family find comfort in each other’s presence, cherishing the time they have together. Help them to create meaningful memories and to find beauty and love in the midst of their circumstances.

Lord, I thank you for your presence in the heart of this child. I humbly pray that you forgive them of any sins they’ve committed and cleanse their hearts in readiness to meet you face to face. If they pass on to the other side, send your angels to guide and comfort them.

I surrender to your will Lord. Grant all of us who are close to this child the strength to carry on. 

In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray trusting and believing, Amen.
